in an ongoing effort to improve myself as a designer, i’ve made a pact to learn one new photoshop “trick” per week. up this week? tilt shifting. in layman’s terms, it’s the act of tweaking a photo to make it seem almost toy-like. some people hate it because you’re distorting reality. well, so it using too much contrast, but i’m not hating. it’s fun to do once in a while and it’s amazing what a few simple steps can do to really change the look of a photo.

i love bokeh. that’s all.
taken for work at west baden springs hotel.
i hope you spend your day(s) surrounded by those you love, making memories for years to come.
christmas was in the air in french lick • west baden well before thanksgiving, but when i stopped by the french lick springs hotel earlier this week, i discovered it’s in full swing. the first image is of the paoli courthouse; i love love love the 3 tiers of wreaths. contrasted on the stark white building, i think it looks classic, classy and beautiful. if you’ve never been to this area during the holidays, you’re missing out. especially vital to see is the 2 story christmas tree in center of the already jaw-dropping atrium at the west baden springs hotel.
this past week i found myself on top of the word, for a couple of reasons. one of them was finding myself literally on top of the world. by that i mean on top of indiana. and by that, i mean on top of the (2nd) highest point in indiana at the pete dye golf course. i have been fortunate enough to have made it past the gates a couple of times since it opened this summer, but it’s always been for a work function where whipping out my camera might be classless frowned upon. last week i went again, but this time for the sole purpose of taking fall images of the course. it truly is a spectacular sight, especially in the morning, which was when i went. for a ridiculous chunk small price, this view could be yours (for a few hours, anyway).
i took a trip to the winery today to take some pics for our library and decided to share a bit of the holiday sentiment. christmas has come early in french lick west baden. though the weather is chilly, it’s highly bearable. i wouldn’t mind grabbing a scarf, a bottle of french lick red and a blanket for a little outdoor picnic.
